Van Raay Paskal Farms crops a total of 55,000 acres between our farm in Alberta and our farm in Saskatchewan. In Alberta, VRP seeds approx. 21,000 irrigated acres near Iron Springs, in close proximity to all of our feedlots.

Our farm in Saskatchewan is a wholly owned subsidiary of Van Raay Paskal Farms called Van Raay Land Inc (VRL) and consists of 34,000 acres in West Central Saskatchewan near Outlook.

Innovations such as precision agriculture, variable-rate technology and real-time weather information gathering aid in the efficient use of resources to grow more crop with fewer inputs.

Utilizing well-managed, professional and progressive practices, VRP Farms works to take care of our land. We always work with the highest regard for environmental stewardship and concern for the waterways within the bounds of our operations and surrounding areas

How We Do Farming in Alberta

Our farm in Alberta performs the crucial role of growing forage for our cattle. We are currently seeding 21,000 acres consisting of rye, soft wheat, barley, triticale, and corn.

The majority of our land is strategically situated in close proximity to the feedlots, reducing the hauling distances, which lessens the impact on roads, equipment, and fuel consumption.

Leading-edge technologies such as GPS enable VRP to manage logistics of its large machinery fleet and irrigation equipment. This informs better decision-making on how to best direct resources. Additional equipment monitoring information from sprayers, tractor and seeders is combined with land information and crop health information.

Our cattle produce manure, which supplies the nutrients to feed the crops and our land. As a result, VRP has a very small requirement to buy commercial fertilizer.

Our shop located at the Home Lot near Iron Springs is the hub of all farm activity. Our mechanics, welders and shop crew work diligently throughout the year to maintain our machinery, equipment, feed mills and buildings. We have trained and qualified staff that are able to perform the majority of repairs and maintenance in house, reducing the need to outsource the work.

We understand that water is a precious resource, and have worked with software developers to create and implement crop water-use models that eliminate over-watering. We have personnel dedicated to ensuring we get the maximum benefit from the water we use.

VRP works closely with local seed producers and certified suppliers to provide high quality seed and inputs for our production.

The majority of our land is strategically situated in close proximity to the feedlots, reducing the hauling distances, which lessens the impact on roads, equipment, and fuel consumption.

VRP has 35 valued employees that farm the land and grow the crops. We are dedicated to providing a safe working environment for all farm employees. We commit to provide training and well-maintained facilities and equipment

How We Do Farming in Saskatchewan

Our farm in Saskatchewan is a commercial grain operation that operates independently from VRP. We are currently seeding 34,000 acres consisting of canola, wheat, barley, and red lentils. These crops are sold at the local elevators and are eventually exported around the world.

All acres in Saskatchewan are 100% custom farmed using late model equipment.

VRL works closely with local input dealers and agronomists to provide high quality seed and inputs for our production.

Leading-edge technologies such as GPS, variable rate and precision agriculture enable VRL to manage the health of our crops and our land. This helps reduce the reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This informs better decision-making on how to best direct resources.

Dry land farming comes with its challenges when it comes to water. VRL uses agronomic practices such as no-tilling and the use of drought tolerant crops that help utilize water to its full potential.

Equipment monitoring information from tractors, seeders, sprayers and combines is utilized for land and crop health information.
